An Act to ensure greater continuity and clarity concerning the continuance of Cabinet and Privy Council positions, and for other purposes.
I. SHORT TITLE
This Act may be cited for all purposes as the “Privy Council Continuity Act.”
II. PRIVY COUNCIL POSITIONS SHALL CARRY OVER
A. A member of the Cabinet who has been re-appointed to a position on the Cabinet shall retain their former position on His Majesty’s Most Honourable Council unless another citizen has been appointed to the position they previously held or His Majesty’s pleasure shall have ceased for their appointment.
B. A member of the Cabinet who has not been re-appointed to a position shall not retain their former position on His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, absent a new Order-in-Council appointing that member to such a position.
III. ACT TO APPLY RETROACTIVELY
This act shall apply retroactively to all previous appointments so as to be understood that individuals held Privy Council titles for periods as outlined by the rules in Section II.
IV. COMMENCEMENT
This legislation and all the provisions therein shall come into force upon receiving the Royal Assent.
