BE IT ENACTED by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords and Burgesses in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: 1. SHORT TITLE This act may be cited for all purposes as “Sconnish Rights ACT” 2. PURPOSE. The Sconnish Parliament shall make no law to infringe or prohibit upon the exercise of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press/media and freedom of satire. The Sconnish Parliament shall prohibit any Defamation, both Libel and Slander, as it pertains to Sconnish citizens and those communicating with Sconnish citizens or government entities. 3. DEFINITIONS. Defining the ambiguous terms in the previous section are as followed: Freedom of Religion: The right to practice whatever religion one chooses. Freedom of Speech: The right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint. Freedom of the Press and Media: The principle that communication and expression through various media, including printed and electronic media, especially published materials, should be considered a right to be exercised freely. Freedom of Satire: The right to the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's foibles, folly or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. Defamation: Defamation is the oral or written communication of a false statement about another that unjustly harms their reputation and usually constitutes a tort or crime. Libel and Slander: Libel and slander are types of defamatory statements. Libel is a defamatory statement that is written. Slander is a defamatory statement that is oral. 4. ENFORCEMENT. The department of Hospitality and Culture will oversee the enforcement of these Rights. 5. VIOLATIONS. Any Violation to the Sconnish Rights Act will be brought to trial before the appropriate Sconnish court. 6. COMMENCEMENT. This legislation and all the provisions therein shall come into force upon receiving the Royal Assent.
