AN ACT to provide for the compulsory public observation of various holidays by His Majesty’s Government.
WHEREAS it has seemed fitting that Parliament should determine in law certain public holidays to be observed annually by His Majesty’s Government:
Be it therefore enacted by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Burgesses in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1. Short Title:
This Act may be cited for all purposes as “The Official Holidays Act 2014.”
2. Holidays Having a Religious Character:
The following annually-recurring holidays of the Christian calendar shall be publicly observed by His Majesty’s Government:
Good Friday: Friday preceding Easter Monday
Easter Monday: Day following Easter Sunday
Christmas Day: 25 December
Boxing Day: 26 December
Holidays Having a Secular Character:
Sconnish Independence Day: 1 March
The King’s Official Birthday: The Second Monday in June
Public Holidays Proclaimed From Time to Time:
His Majesty the King shall, from time to time as may seem to him fitting, compel by Royal Proclamation the observance of other public holidays not enumerated herein.
5.Commencement: This Act and all the provisions therein shall come into force upon receiving the Royal Assent. [THE ROYAL ASSENT]
